Lithop Seeds
Lithop Seeds
Lithops, commonly known as “living stones,” are succulent plants native to the arid regions of southern Africa. These fascinating plants have evolved a unique morphology to mimic the appearance of surrounding rocks and pebbles, serving as an adaptive camouflage
against herbivores.
These plants thrive in nutrient-poor soils with excellent drainage, making them ideal candidates for xeriscaping and low-maintenance houseplants. They consist primarily of two fleshy leaves that store water, allowing them to survive prolonged periods of drought. The leaves are mostly underground, exposing only the flat, translucent tops that function as “windows” to permit sunlight to penetrate for photosynthesis.
During their annual growth cycle, Lithops produce a new leaf pair and may yield vibrant, daisy-like flowers, usually yellow or white. Lithops are well-suited for cultivation by both novice and expert gardeners, requiring minimal water and indirect light. The seeds in this mix offer a diverse range of species, colors, and patterns, providing an engaging and educational experience in observing the plants’ growth and adaptations.
Each seed packet contains 20-30 seeds.
