Shipping Specialist

Location: Tulsa, OK

Type: Part-Time (with opportunity to advance to full-time) 

 

About Us: We are a growing e-commerce business dedicated to delivering high-quality science products to our customers. Our flagship product is our science subscription box, Matter.

 

About You: We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Shipping Specialist to support our shipping operations. In this role, you will ensure timely and accurate processing of online orders and subscription boxes, maintain inventory records, and coordinate with team members to optimize shipping workflows.

While your primary focus will be on shipping and logistics, we value flexibility, and you may occasionally assist in other departments as needed to ensure smooth operations and a cohesive team environment.

This position is part-time with the opportunity to move to full-time once comfortable.

 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Order Processing: Pick, pack, and prepare orders for shipment accurately and efficiently.
  • Inventory Management: Monitor and organize inventory to maintain optimal stock levels and ensure proper labeling. 
  • Shipping Coordination: Work with shipping carriers to schedule pickups, track shipments, and resolve delivery issues.
  • Team Collaboration: Communicate with other departments to ensure smooth order fulfillment and resolve any shipping discrepancies.
  • Quality Assurance: Inspect outgoing shipments for accuracy and condition, ensuring customer satisfaction.

 

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous experience in shipping, logistics, or warehouse operations is a plus. 
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.
  • Physical ability to lift and move packages weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Proficiency in using shipping software and basic computer skills.
  • Experience with Shopify and Google Workspace is a plus.

 

Starting pay: $14-$17/hr DOE

Schedule: Flexible, but 16-24 hours a week, Monday - Friday is typical

GIGS

PROJECT CODENAME: SAWMILL

We are looking for someone or a team who can mass produce simple wood products for us. Locals preferred (to reduce shipping) but not required. Projects would require some consultation prior to figure out the best materials/specs/costs/etc. Quantities could range up to the thousands of items and consist of small simple tools to furniture.



PROJECT CODENAME: CALENDAR WIZARD

We are looking for someone who can build a custom shared calendar (Google Calendar is preferred). Remote worker preferred. This calendar will be somewhat complex and may require some technical sleuthing, but it shouldn't take more than a few days. Pay is $250 for this project.



PROJECT CODENAME: SUNBURN CITY

We are looking for a SFX Makeup Consultant to discuss a special project. This person should be skilled a creating realistic skin effects. This position can be remote.



PROJECT CODENAME: SPUTNIK RETURNS

We are looking for someone to help develop a special project. Should be knowledgeable in metal fabrication and 3d modeling. This can be a remote or local position.



PROJECT CODENAME: SWORD IN THE STONE

We are looking for someone to help develop a special project. NDA required. Project scope is flexible but will likely require knowledge regarding the engineering and fabrication of metals. Perfect for puzzle-loving engineers. Can’t go into much detail here. Serious applicants only. Consultation first to determine project viability. This can be a remote or local position.



PROJECT CODENAME: HEADS OF GIANTS

We are looking for someone to help develop a special project. Should be knowledgeable in concrete objects and possibly mass production. This can be a remote or local position.
