Collection: Binoculars

Portable optics for the field, the sky, and everything in motion.

Binoculars are compact light-gathering instruments built for exploration without setup. Use them for birding, geology trips, stargazing, travel, sporting events, wildlife observation, and scanning landscapes from a distance.

They are one of the most useful scientific tools because they go wherever curiosity goes.

Pro-tip: In binocular listings, numbers like 10x42 tell you two important things. The first number is magnification: 10x makes objects appear ten times closer. The second number is the diameter of the front lenses in millimeters: 42 mm lenses gather more light than smaller lenses, which can make the image brighter. For handheld use, 8x or 10x binoculars are usually easier to keep steady. Higher magnification can show more detail, but small hand movements are magnified too. Larger objective lenses can create a brighter image, especially in low light, but they also make binoculars bigger and heavier.
